Mormons Building Bridges

Mormons Building Bridges

Mormons Building Bridges is a community of Mormons dedicated to conveying love and acceptance to all those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or intersex.

The logo, along with it’s rainbow themed stepping stones, has served as the basic branding system for the group since it’s inception. It often is featured during Pride parades when members of the group march to express solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.

I designed this logo while attending Brigham Young University in Provo, UT when I was just starting to come out of the closet. Being able to support an organization like MBB through something as simple as logo design was incredibly empowering, a way I could support something I didn’t yet have the courage to really openly acknowledge. I’ll never forget attending the Pride Parade in Salt Lake City, UT where I saw this logo on full display, being carried by a large group of LGBTQ+ allies I didn’t know existed. While I’m no longer involved in the group in any substantive way, I’m very happy they exist and continue to create powerful communities of support for LGBTQ+ Mormons and allies.
